I personally think there should be public notice about the inherent dangers about J Hooked bungee cords.

Back in the summer of 2009 I reinvented the bungee cord. It's a product called LoopRope. The inherent problem with bungees is two fold, they are either too long or too short. When too long you haver to wrap them around stuff just to to take up tension and when they are too short you have to link multiples together increasing the amount of potential trouble of the hooks coming apart from over stretching.

LoopRope is a bungee system using a loop system that makes them infinetely adjustable. The anchoring point features a girth knot which will NEVER release and the connecting point is using a two sided closed gated carabiner that cannot release either.

I actually have two Opthamologist that have endorsed LoopRope as being far safer than bungee cords and say LoopRope will significantly reduce damage caused from the lash back of those dangerous bungee cords. As an added bonus LoopRope has far more uses than your typical bungee cord.

Please see it at www.looprope.com and recommend LoopRope over bungee cords. Knock on wood but since the invention I have had ZERO claims. Ironically enough we have ropes being manufactured for the military by the blind and handicapped under the Govts. Ability One program.

Thank you for your post and sorry it happened to you.

Jeff D.Jefferyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01941306652748516827noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3098749020125299177.post-30706239859512863562011-12-06T00:11:54.439-05:002011-12-06T00:11:54.439-05:00A co-workers mother lost her eye completely to a b...A co-workers mother lost her eye completely to a bungee accident, not sure if her eye was removed, but they were discussing it. My uncle had one come apart and smack him in the back of the hand, a bruise and huge lump that needed ice and probably should have had an xray. I treat bungees with a great deal of respect and caution now. They are like a very powerful slingshot that you should never allow to be aimed towards you without protection. Thanks for your blog on this! Wishing you a speedy recovery.
